naughty milk

oops. i broke the rules. i drank milk. whenever i am sick, josh warns me, "don't drink milk!" but honestly, what else goes with a breakfast of toast with peanut butter and rogers' golden? nothing else but milk. so i drank a full glass without thinking and now my throat is so clogged that i can hardly talk. i started getting sick on sunday, while at work and continued to feel worse through my 2 days off. yesterday i would have stayed home, except that we had free tickets to a san diego padres game with josh's parents, and i didn't feel right about skipping work, and then going to a baseball game. so i hacked my way through work and, right before leaving for the game, bashed my forehead against a metal peg in the wall, causing my head to ache even worse than it had been before. ( i now have a very interesting looking red line across the left side of my forehead) the game was fun, even though the padres lost. i got my hidiously expensive, though extremely mandatory bag of cracker jacks and sang through the entire national anthem without having to read the words, to the great astonishment of my father in law. we got home quite late last night, and when josh's alarm went off at 5am this morning, i heard him utter a few choice words that will not be repeated on this blog. he just called me from work, and, being a good wife, i have instructed him to "drink lots of red bulls" in order to stay awake. he had to say goodbye early into our conversation because apparently, he couldn't understand a word i was saying. he told me that my voice sounded lower than his. i decided not to tell him about the Mistake with the Milk.

monday was memorial day here in the usa. josh being the good american that he is, and i, being the good permanent resident that i am, decided to invite friends over and have a bbq. even though i was feeling quite ill, it was a lot of fun. we took tons of pictures that i'm sure turned out great, but i cannot post them yet, due to the fact that we are still saving up for a digital camera. if you can't wait to see these exciting pictures, feel free to send us donations and we'll get that problem fixed pronto. :) we had 3 couples and 6 kids over... you'd think that, by knowing in advance how many kids were coming, i wouldn't have been such a mad woman and cleaned my entire house top to bottom BEFORE they came over. but, not having kids of my own, i dont tend to think those kinds of things through, and so my house got 2 top to bottom cleanings-- one before everyone came and one after. we girls had fun sitting on shore, sipping our pina coladas and watching the kids splash around in the pond. then sara got adventurous and started giving her kids canoe rides, so i decided to be adventurous as well and swam clear across the pond, then got tired, so grabbed onto a rope dangling from the boat that josh and jessica were in and had them tow me around. it was a great day, and i'm so thankful that our new house is big enough so that we can have these kinds of parties.

today is cloudy and cold and i am all bundled up in a blanket & wearing josh's slippers which are about 10 sizes too big for my feet. i have to work a closing shift tonight, and am bracing myself for it. closing shifts seem to take way longer than day shifts. i dislike them very much. the only thing that makes closing shifts bearable is that i allow myself the pleasure of visiting the convenience store and buying a bottle of starbucks chilled mocha drink. hmmm...i just realized that there must be milk in those things. but the milk probably doesn't really count as real milk, right? i don't think it counts.

When I told dad today that you and Josh were going to a padres (is that spelled correctly?) game, he began to drool. Well, almost. Said he wanted to hear about it and was excited for you. Oh, and I forgot to tell you the other day during our phone talk that he sends you his love.
Hmmm, tell me the connection between milk and getting sicker. Hope you feel better soon. your mom
