pictures!

i decided to do a bit of a picture tour of our house so that all of you, including my parents, can get a bit of an idea of what our place is like. i didn't include pictures of boring places, like the laundry room and the guest bathroom, and the office wasn't included because it is such a complete mess in here! i have more pictures from last sunday's father's day/birthday bash at our place, but will post them another time.

so, i go to work this afternoon for the closing shift and do the same shift tomorrow, then open on friday, which means that i won't get to see josh (well, not in an awake state, anyway) until friday evening when i get home! that really sucks, but i am determined to take it all one day at a time. ...i miss him already...

so josh's birthday was kind of interesting last thursday. we got a call the evening before from a friend that we met at capernwray in england, stuart barnard. stuart is from alberta, and the year that josh and i went to school was the year that stuart was the guys' R.A. stuart is a very nice guy. he's very friendly and genuine and extremely easy to talk to. for some reason, though, every single last female that attended capernwray the year that i was there fell in love with stuart barnard. (except for me, of course) i think a lot of it had to do with the fact that he was a bit of an authority figure, and that he led worship once in awhile...the girls looked up to him. WELL, the next year, stuart decided to stay on staff at the school and he fell in love with the girl who ran the school's bookshop. we called her Bookshop Jenny. she is british and giggles a lot and is very cute and sweet and stuart asked her to marry him, and they are getting married in august and moving to lethbridge. i am sure that a million girls' hearts broke when they heard the news.

ANYWAY, so stuart called and told josh that he was driving from phoenix to seattle and wondered if he could crash at our place the next day (josh's birthday). of course he said yes, so we had an extra guest on josh's birthday. we went to the boll weevil for dinner (remember darla: so bad it's rad?) and then came home and had brownies while looking at pictures and reminiscing about all the people we went to school with. we found out that stuart had updates on a lot of the students...what they ended up doing after leaving capernwray. it was fun and brought back a lot of crazy memories.

josh now plays baseball on tuesdays with a men's league. he had his second game last night. i just love watching him play and getting to cheer him on. he's really very good. there is another pastime that we have just recently discovered that we both enjoy...i never would have guessed that he'd like it! take a look at the picture of the dining room below and see if you can tell what it is. who ever guesses the correct answer first gets the prize of staying in our lovely guest room! (airfare not provided, but transportation from the airport is) :)
