glorious weekend!

so , i got saturday AND sunday off last weekend. how spoiled am i? it was much needed and ever so refreshing. saturday morning josh and i went out for breakfast down in santee, then did a bit of shopping. came back home and it was such a lovely day that i HAD to ask if josh wanted to go for a walk. i don't know why i even bother to ask, but my heart still has hope. you see, i adore going for walks. that's basically what our early dating days consisted of, was taking walks in the english countryside. of course, now i've finally figured out that the only reason he wanted to walk with me back then was just to get some privacy so that we could hold hands and grab the occasional kiss outside of our "no public displays of affection" school. i still find walks romantic, so i asked and he said no. he did, however want to play a little wiffle ball with me and, though far from romantic, i agreed. i am probably the most un-athletic person i've ever met, and yet i managed to hit that wiffle ball more times than i missed it. (no home runs, though). then it was josh's turn to hit. i threw the ball to him and he batted left handed, for fear of hitting me in the face. i told him, " just go ahead and bat right handed." so he did. yes, he hit that ball alright, straight at me. i had no time to duck or even to blink, i just saw this white ball hurtle towards my face and the next thing i new, i was down on the grass, face in my hands, tears of shock streaming down my face. josh came running to see if i was okay, and told me later that it was all he could do to keep from laughing. it stung so bad and now i have a very tender little goosegg on my forehead. lovely. after that we went inside and watched dvds.

on sunday, rob and jessica came up for the day with kaylee and john. it was a gorgeous day out...we bbq'd hamburgers and hot dogs, then paddled around the lake a bit. our neighbors came riding by on their horses and kaylee and john got to ride on them. at the end of the day we caught a frog and kaylee and john had a great time catching it every time it jumped out of their hands. john has the best smile and adores his uncle stew. he likes to pretend to talk on the phone and, whenever asked who he's talking to, always replies, "doo". kaylee is getting so grown up; it amazes me everytime i see her to hear her talk and the words she uses. she is such a little lady.

posted a few pictures from sunday, they're a little jumbled up. honestly, i find it hard to want to blog when there are so many other interesting blogs to read, but i'm trying to do it more often.

I find it funny that you were bbqing and I am still waiting for all the snow to melt at my house so that I can even enjoy the outside.

OK girl, your blog had me laugh so hard, I had to read it out loud to Fern, and laughed so hard I cried. Had a kind of rough day mentally, so it was soo nice to laugh!! Thankyou.
ps (it reminded me of the volleyball scene in the pool on 'meet the parents')

Hi Heidi!
I can totally sympathize with the husband who will not indulge you in romantic walks. Also, I too have had the funny feeling that I am walking around with a target on me when playing most sports where it is possible to be injured by a ball or other flying object. So sorry about your injury. What a lovely husband you must have that he held the laughter in. Mine comes from a culture where it is not rude to laugh hilariously when someone is injured!
Love reading your blog, your style of writing is very pleasant to read (:
