i am still waiting for that call. every day that goes by without getting the call, i feel less and less optimistic about getting the job. *sigh*. have had quite a non-exciting day today so far. i got a call from our church to see if i could come in and answer phones for 2 hours while a staff meeting went on. it was really quite dull, but i got into this great book that i got for christmas from my mom. its called, "mudhouse sabbath" by lauren winner, the author of another one of my favourite books, called "girl meets god". lauren used to be an orthodox jew before she converted to christianity. in her newest book, she talks about many different jewish traditions and practices, such as keeping kosher, candle lighting, and keeping the sabbath. she brings out the beautiful, rich meanings behind each one and discusses how different aspects of these practices can illuminate our christianity in a whole new way. i am finding it fascinating.
josh has invited a co-worker over for hamburgers tonight, so i have been madly vacuuming the house and dusting, even thought i know that this guy won't notice at all. it just makes me feel better having a clean house. so, last night, after i wrote the last blog, i fooled around a little bit and figured out ALL BY MYSELF how to get a links section onto my blog! i was quite ecstatic about the whole thing, since i consider myself computer illiterate. so you'll have to check out the links to my friend's blogs. here is something kind of funny that i've been wondering about lately: i read the blogs of people i know. BUT, people i know also have links to their friend's blogs who i do not know. there are 2 such blogs that i read religiously. i know neither of the people that write them, but i feel like i know them because i read their blogs. i have never commented on either, as i think that would be kind of weird. but that got me thinking...is there anyone who reads my blog who has never met me? far from creeping me out, i think it would actually be rather flattering. feel free to comment!
well, off to squish raw, ground cow flesh between my fingers (sorry, cara!). i will blog AS SOON as i find out about the job.

Okay, so funny, Heidi! I read other people's blogs too (those I don't know) and I always feel as though I am somehow intruding on their lives or being nosey...but it's too fascinating! Then again, I would love it if other people read my blog! I guess everyone has to expect that other random people will read the blogs--this is the internet, ya know?!? Anyways, can't wait to hear about the job possibility.
Hi Heidi,
I do read your blog (I got it from the link on Aimee's blog)...but yeah, I always do feel weird about commenting on people's blogs that are not at least a friend of a friend, so I generally don't.
P.S. I noticed in one of your first blogs that you wondered how to get rid of ants. We have a problem with them as well, and we use some Raid stuff. It comes in a relatively small red bottle with an eyedropper thing on the top. The ants love it and take it back to their queen who then dies. We used it last summer, and we only had to do it twice - after we realized that there were two nests.
katelyn,
thanks for being brave and commenting...
and i've read your blog from the link on aimee's site too! you guys always make me smile. thanks for the tip about the ants..once it gets really hot outside, i'm sure they'll be back.

Yes, I "lurk" in my friends' friend's blogs too. But I am so curious now... whose blogs are you lurking in? Do I know them?
Now I'm off to learn all about your friends! :)

Hey Heidi, you wouldn't believe it but on the menu for our dinner last night was...meatloaf. Yes, the night before Andy said he was craving it and I said, let's get some hamburger...it's easy to prepare. He ended up making most of it and it hit the spot for him...So we had squash (so good), potatoes, meatloaf (AA) and fried tofu - which actually tasted kind of 'meaty.' (CA). I love being a vegan (who eats fish occasionally) and don't freak when others eat meat or blog about preparing it:)
As for reading others blogs...my comments would be similar to those listed but for some reason I like being an island with my own blog and don't want to link to others blogs. So, hope you enjoy my island. It's a beautiful day. Love ya. I commented on my blog re: my Grma.
