thanks for all of your helpful comments on my last post. an hour and a half after putting him down, he fell asleep and then when i tried to wake him up 2 hours later, he refused to awaken. so i just watched him sleep until i couldn't stand it any longer and had to hold him and kiss his pudgy little cheeks. today i put him down 30 minutes later than i normally do, and he went down without a peep, so i'll keep plugging away for awhile, experimenting with timing.
